Summer Wreath made with Flip Flops

Summer Wreath made with Flip Flops

Wreaths are a sign of welcome on the front door but we don't always think of using them to adorn our home’s entrance after the holidays are over. This flip-flop wreath is an easy, colorful craft project that’s perfect for summer, or if you're lucky enough to live at the beach it may be perfect all year round!

What you need

8 to 10 pairs of flip-flops, depending on size (purchase flip flops that are close to the same size)
Embellishments as desired
Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
1 pipe cleaner

Instructions

Catch a good sale at the discount store or craft store and you can buy enough flip-flops for two wreaths for around ten dollars. With so many styles and colors available you can coordinate your wreath with your home’s décor, take it over the top with glue-on crystal embellishments or give the kids some stickers and paint and let them set the tone. After all, you can’t get too serious when making a wreath from footwear!

Select all right or all left shoes. Embellish and decorate them as desired. When choosing decorations, remember that the heel area of each sandal will mostly be covered up. The wreath pictured here was decorated by children with paint and foam stickers.

Arrange the shoes in a circle. Place a quarter-sized dot of hot glue at the heel and press the toe of another sandal firmly into the glue. Continue until all the flip-flops are attached.

007

Twist a pipe cleaner into a loop.  Turn the wreath over and hot glue the loop onto the back from the point at which you’d like it to hang.

All done!
