Christmas Ornament: Felt & Buttons Tree

Using felt create this white Christmas inspired tree decoration featuring a tree in the middle.

What you need

White Felt
Green Felt
Red Embroidery Thread
3 inch (7.5cm) Red Ribbon
10 buttons

Instructions

You can follow the measurements below or make your decoration any size you wish.

Cut 2 circles with a diameter of 2.7 inch (7 cms) for the middle section. Using a blanket stitch, stitch the two circles together.  You could also glue these if you do not have sewing skills.

Cut 20 circles with a diameter of 1.4 inch (3.5 cm)for the outer circles.

Sew them together using a blanket stitch as you did for the middle one. Do this 10 times.  Sew each one to the main circle as shown.

Embellish your ornament with the buttons around the edges.

Add a felt cutout to the middle. We created a Christmas tree using glitter felt and red embroidery thread.  You could also create this decoration using ready made felt cut outs or iron on Christmas patches.

Sew the ribbon onto the top to finish.

  2. Great Idea, I will try to make some of tree for this year.

  3. Love this idea! I can see this as a pincushion for any time of the year with any motif in the middle. I will make a few for Valentine’s Day with a heart in the middle.
