The process of making homemade shaving cream is relatively simple and easy, and the result is a product that is not only better for your skin but also more cost-effective than store-bought options. Here is an updated version of the recipe with additional instructions on how to melt the stearic acid:
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of stearic acid powder
1 tsp of borax
2 tbs of grated soap or melt and pour soap base
1 cup of hot water
Instructions:
Using a double boiler method, melt the stearic acid powder until it becomes a clear liquid.
In a mixing bowl, combine the borax and grated soap or melt and pour soap base.
Slowly pour the melted stearic acid into the bowl with the soap and borax, stirring until the ingredients are well combined.
Next, place the mixture into a blender and blend on high for a few minutes until it becomes a thick, creamy consistency.
Carefully pour the shaving cream mixture into a container and let it cool and thicken for a few minutes.
Once cooled, the shaving cream is ready for use. You can store it in a container with a lid and keep it in a cool, dry place. Note that the cream may settle slightly when not in use, so give it a stir or store it in a jar that can be shaken prior to use.
To use, simply scoop out a small amount of the shaving cream and apply it to your skin before shaving. The shaving cream will provide a smooth and lubricating surface, making shaving easier and more comfortable.
Enjoy your homemade shaving cream! You can customize this recipe by adding your favorite essential oils for fragrance or nourishing properties.
You can add a drop of essential oil to give it a good smell. But dont add to much for it could irritate skin if there is too much in it. I use peppermint essential oil in all of my stuff
Can I add some oils to provide a good smel?.. any suggestions?
