Instructions

Sew a school of soft and squishy plushie fish friends with this easy fleece toy sewing pattern. These handmade fish are simple, colorful, and wonderfully cuddly, making them a fun project for kids’ gifts, ocean-themed bedrooms, playrooms, nurseries, or anyone who loves cute handmade soft toys.

This DIY plush fish pattern is a great beginner-friendly sewing project because it uses small amounts of multi-colored fleece, felt scraps for the eyes, and toy filling to create a soft fish that can be used as a cuddle toy, pillow, or decorative cushion. The simple shape makes it easy to customize with bright colors, patterned fleece, rainbow stripes, or matching fabrics for a whole family of fish.

Whether you are sewing one fish as a quick handmade gift or making several for an under-the-sea themed play area, these plushie fish friends are a cheerful scrap-busting project that turns soft fabric leftovers into something playful, practical, and full of personality.

Step 1:  Download the Fish Pattern.

Step 2: Cut out all your pieces.

Step 3: Sew around your fin pieces then turn but do not fill.

Step 4: Pin your fin into position facing inwards and sew around your fish.

Step 5: Leave a gap at the tail end so you can turn and fill.

Step 6: Once you are satisfied with the result sew up the gap.

Step 7: To finish off, stitch on the eyes.
