No Sew Dog Bed

No Sew Dog Bed

This DIY tutorial shows you how to make a dog bed or cat bed using fleece and no sewing skills required.

What you need

Scissors

5 Packs 100 Count Cotton Balls or toy filling

2 Fleece Baby Blankets You can also buy these from the Dollar Stores

Instructions

This easy-to-make dog bed is made using fleece that is tied together to create a dog or cat bed. You can change the size of your bed to suit your dog by using larger blanket pieces and of course you will need extra filling.

We all know the importance of a soft bed, so shouldn’t we take the same kind of care for our dog or cat too? These dog beds are so easy to make, you will find yourself wanting to make a dog bed for every area of the house.  Another cheap way to fill these dog beds is to use old sweaters stuffed inside the bed, this is especially good if you have a dog who has some separation anxiety as you could use your own clothes that have your scent on them to fill the pet bed.

Step 1: Carefully cut off the thread edge on both blankets. You don’t want to cut much of the fabric just where the thread ends.

Step 2: Next, cut the edges into fringes. You want to make cuts about every inch and you want each cut to be 2-3 inches long. Do this to both blankets.

Step 3: Lay the blankets so that the shapes match. Then start to tie them together. Use one firing from one blanket to tie to another fringe on the other blanket. Make sure you tie them tight.

Step 4: Work your way most of the way around but leave 6 or so spaces un-tied.

Step 5: Stuff the blankets with the cotton balls.

Step 6: The last step is to finish closing the blanket up. Tie the rest of the fringes closed.

I love the idea of the doggie bed made from flannel and cotton balls. My new puppy loves my husbands clothes so he sleeps on a couple of his shirts, he took a couple of his older shirts and Teddy sleeps on them. I am thinking of taking one of the shirts tying the neck and sleeves shut and filling it with cotton balls and doing the cutting and tying the bottom end shut.
