What you need
14 oz (400g) glycerin soap
orange dye
5ml of Orange essential or fragrant oil
1 tsp of Dried orange zest
Instructions
If you love citrus-scented handmade soap, this glycerin marmalade soap is a bright and cheerful melt and pour recipe to try. Made with clear glycerin soap base, orange colouring, orange fragrance or essential oil, and dried orange zest, these pretty bars have the look of homemade marmalade captured inside a bar of soap.
This is a great beginner soap making project because it uses the melt and pour method, so there is no need to work with lye or complicated soap calculations. The orange zest gives the finished soap a lovely textured appearance, while the fresh citrus scent makes it perfect for bathrooms, guest soaps, handmade gifts, craft stalls, or pamper baskets.
For the best results, use dried orange zest rather than fresh zest, as extra moisture can affect the finished soap. You can pour this recipe into oval molds, small guest soap molds, or a loaf mold and slice it into bars once set.
Simple, bright, and beautifully giftable, this homemade orange glycerin soap is a fun way to create a fresh citrus soap with just a few easy ingredients.
To make the orange zest – Zest an orange and spread the zest out onto a baking tray, dry in a low oven for 1 hour or until crisp.

Melt your Melt and Pour Soap base and dye together and remove from the heat, add zest, and oils then pour into your mold.

To prevent the zest from falling to the bottom using skewer mix the zest to the top as the soap cools.
This recipe uses the method for Melt and Pour Soaps.
