DIY Laundry Scent Booster

DIY Laundry Scent Booster

Adding a pleasant scent to your laundry can make the entire washing process feel like a spa-like experience. However, store-bought laundry scent boosters can be expensive and contain chemicals that you might not want in your home.

The good news is that you can easily create your own natural, DIY laundry scent booster with just a few ingredients! Whether you prefer a fresh and clean scent, a relaxing lavender aroma, or something with a hint of lemon, the possibilities are endless.

What you need

Epsom Salt

Baking Soda

Essential Oils Lavender, (or your choice)

Jar with lid

Measuring cups

Instructions

Adding a laundry scent booster to your washing can help with unpleasant odors in several ways.

The Epsom salt and baking soda in the booster help to neutralize odors by balancing the pH levels in the wash. Baking soda is a natural deodorizer that helps to absorb and remove odors from clothes, while Epsom salt can help to remove stubborn odors like sweat and body odor.

The essential oils in the booster provide a fresh and natural scent to your laundry. The fragrance from the essential oils can help to mask and cover up any remaining unpleasant odors, leaving your clothes smelling clean and fresh.

Instructions:

Add 1.5 cups of Epsom salts to a bowl. Next, add ½ cup of baking soda. Then I added 20 drops of lavender and 10 drops of eucalyptus. Stir to mix it up and add it to the jar.

Use 1-2 Tablespoons per load

Simply add the desired amount to your washing machine drum before adding your clothes. Make sure to mix the booster with the laundry before starting the machine to ensure an even distribution of the ingredients.

For a stronger scent, you can add a few extra drops of essential oils directly to your clothes in the drum before starting the machine. This will not only enhance the scent of your laundry but also leave your clothes smelling fresh for days.

It’s important to note that some essential oils can be harsh on certain fabrics, so it’s always best to test a small amount on a hidden area of your clothing before using it on your entire load of laundry.

This DIY laundry scent booster is a cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative to store-bought laundry boosters, and you can easily customize the scent to your preference by using different essential oils or adjusting the amount used. So why wait? Get started on making your own homemade laundry scent booster today and enjoy the fresh, natural scent of your laundry with every wash!
