Coasters – Simple Square


This is a very easy beginner or intermediate knitting project.

Coasters – Simple Square

What you need

Size 10 1/2 (6.5 mm) Needles
2 Colors of Wool or Cotton Yarn

Instructions

This is made using the garter stitch pattern but feel free to alter it to using the stockinette stitch.

Start by casting on 20 stitches, making every odd stitch one color, and every even stitch the other.

Rows 1 – 20

Knit

Bind-off and Weave in Ends.

You’re done! Feel free to make some alterations if you wish.

  1. Made some off these for my daughter along with matching place mats ..She thought the coasters were little face cloths and the place mats were ” finger tip towels”

    She loves them for washing her face, removing makeup, and as guest cloths and towels!

    As long as she is happy, so am I ! <3

    Well, you first do the first stitch with the first colour and add the opposite for each. When you wrap the yarn around, change to a different colour instead of just one.

    its not clear how to change from one colour to the next in the first place!!!
