This was easy to knit. I used uk size 10 needles (pair) and dk wool. I thought 8″ too long so knitted to 6″ with pom pom on top.

  10. Kayleigh Woolf says

Hi Is this size 10 needles US or UK? i am teaching children to knit a hat, so need to get the correct needles for them.

    Kind Regards

  11. Size 10 needle (Would this be 6mm?)

Is this size 10 US or size 10 UK???? I am teaching children to knit and need to get the correct needles!

  12. I used this to make a hat with chunky wool. I finished it about 1.5 inches early as per previous comments however it was about 50% wider than needed and a bit too short.

  13. I made the adult size for my almost 8 yr grandson because his head is almost adult size and I will make the child size for his almost 7 yr brother because his head is not to big. I will say that the big hat fits my head but it seems to be at least an 1 1/2 in longer then needed.

Can I make this child hat with bulky (5) weight—-how many sts cast on?

  15. Can I use the 4-ply yarn that we have here in the US?

    • Carmen Corso says

Want to knit this cap for two girls; one is 10yrs old, the other one is 12yrs old? Please tell me how many stitches should I cast on with 4/ply yarn? Thank you

  16. Nice simple pattern, but 8 inches ended up being way too long for my liking. The end of the hat poofs out too far at the back of my 5 year old’s head 🙁 Thinking about unstitching it all and starting again, but it took so much more than the 2-3 hour estimate that I’m a bit discouraged.

  17. CraftBits (Shellie Wilson) says

Worsted Weight is equivalent to 8ply

  18. I would like to know if worsted wool is the same as 4 ply which we get here in South Africa. I have never seen worsted wool.

  19. this needs a pic

  20. awesome

  21. Quick, easy and my grandaughters love their done in their school colors

  22. will use this pattern to knit for the orphan children overseas..it is simple and will take no time at all..many thanks
