DIY Resin Pop Socket For Your Phone

DIY Resin Pop Socket For Your Phone

This tutorial shows you how to make your own pop sockets for your phone using resin.

What you need

Phone Grip Silicone Mold

UV Resin

UV Lamp

Resin Powder Pigment in colors of your choice

Dried Flowers

Glitter

Popsicle Sticks

Lighter to pop air bubbles

Small cups for mixing

Instructions

If you are working with resin for the first time, check out our resin casting tutorial here.

Add a small amount of uv resin and stir until it is mixed well.

Pour your first color in half of the mold and the second color in the other half. It should look like this

Take a toothpick or popsicle stick and swirl it so it looks like this or experiment and make your own design

Sprinkle a small amount of glitter for a bit of sparkle

Place it in your UV lamp and cure for two minutes. After curing, place your flower. Always cure before placing your flowers when using colored resin. This keeps the flowers from sinking and the colored resin covering them

Next place a thin layer of resin over top of it and cure for 4 minutes. I take mine out of the mold but feel free to keep it in the mold if you are more comfortable. This is what it will look like when fully cured

Attaching your phone grip to the stand can be done several ways.

  1. Apply a thin layer of resin to the stand and put your phone grip on it. Cure for 4 minutes. I really don’t like doing this because it is a very permanent attachment and if you like changing your phone grips you would have to buy more stands.
  2. Using hot glue is another option but if you make a clear phone grip keep in mind it will show through, so be neat with the glue.
  3. My favorite way is using micro glue dots. It attaches but you can also carefully remove it if you want to change it in the future.
