A refreshing face mask that will nourish your skin using cucumber and mint.
What you need1/2 cup cucumber solids
2 tablespoons mint extract
1/4 cup of fresh mint leaves, chopped
1 tablespoon peppermint extract(optional)
1. Microwave cucumber solids and water on high power for 4 minutes. Combine mint extract or chopped mint leaves with peppermint (if using) and add cucumber mixture. Continue microwaving on medium power for 5 minutes. Remove and let stand for 15 minutes. Use when cool to the touch.
2. Store any excess in the refrigerator until ready for use. Mixture will keep for up to 30 days in a sterilized glass jar with a tight fitting lid.
How to use:
Warm a portion of the mixture in the microwave for 2 minutes on low to medium power. Apply to a clean face, let it remain on your skin for 30 minutes, and remove by washing gently with warm water and mild soap.
Add a handful (about 1/2 cup) of raw oatmeal or rolled oats to the warmed cucumber mixture to make a mild to moderately abrasive cleanser. Abrasive cleaners peel off the top layers of skin cells , so proceed carefully.
If this is the mask that you want , work the mixture in with your fingertips. Let it dry thoroughly and slough off the excess oatmeal with a soft dry terry towel. Wash with warm water and a mild soap and finish off with an astringent rinse.
You can also add 1 to 3 tablespoons plain yogurt (with active cultures) which will help to kill skin viruses or fungus and will not replace either medical advice or doctor’s prescription. Used on a regular basis , a yogurt based mask is a good preventative measure for healthy skin. Use no more than 3 tablespoons of yogurt in the mixture at a time.
