Shabby Chic Paper Heart Wall Hanging

This pretty wall hanging made with vintage papers and supplies has a shabby cottage style and makes a lovely addition to any wall. Especially at Valentine's Day!

What you need

-chipboard
-white gesso paint
-blue acrylic paint
-vintage music paper
-vintage tape measure
-bubble wrap
-bird German paper scrap or clip art
-buttons
-brad
-paper flower
-wire
-eyelets (and tools for setting them)
-text from vintage book
-glue
-sponge brush
-thread

Instructions

-From chipboard and vintage music sheet trace and cut out one heart shape each, aprox. 5 1/2″ (free hand or use a plastic template)

-Adhere the paper heart to the front of the chipboard heart

-Using the brush and a small amount of water mixed with the gesso, white wash the bottom half of the heart

-Using the brush and a small amount of water mixed with the blue paint apply paint to the edges and top half of the heart, let dry

-Using the brush apply blue paint to the bubble wrap and “stamp” the circles all over the painted heart, let dry

-Adhere a peice of the measuring tape across the heart where the blue and white paints meet

-Run thread through buttons and a brad through the paper flower, adhere them all to the corner heart over the measuring tape.

-Cut words from a vintage book and adhere them to other corner of the heart

-Cut out a German paper scrap or vintage clip art image of a bird and nest and adhere it to the middle of the heart

-Punch holes and set the eyelets into the top corners of the heart

-Run wire through the eyelets and wrapping the edges back around

  1. Great for Valentines day if you use the right words like Love, Hugs etc. and make it red and maybe clipart of cupid.
