What you need
Worsted Weight yarn like Red Heart, works great for this because it makes it a little more shapely.
I used 3 colors, a pretty purple, sage, and a cream color.

NOTE: In the base portion of the pattern, I will at some point use the word cluster and corner:
*Cluster – 3hdc group,
*Corner – ( 3hdc, ch3, 3 hdc) in same space consists of corner.
BASE
Ch 18 – 3 hdc in 4th chain from hook. (Skip 2 ch, 3 hdc in next ch) 4 times – 1 hdc in last ch, ch2
Round 1: (2 hdc, ch3, 3 hdc, ch3, 3 hdc) all in same ch3 space. (3hdc, ch3, 3hdc) in each of next 4 spaces. (3hdc, ch3, 3 hdc, ch3, 3 hdc) all in next space. 3 hdc in each of next 4 spaces. Join to top of beginning ch2. – 14 clusters
Round 2: Sl St in 1st 2 st and into corner space. (Ch2, 2 hdc, ch3, 3 hdc) all in same space (1st corner made). Work *corner in next corner space. 3 hdc in each of next 5 spaces, work corner into next 2 corner spaces. 3 hdc in each of last 5 spaces. Join to top of beginning ch2. – 4 corners, 10 clusters
Round 3: Sl St in first 2 st and into corner space. Ch2, (2hdc, ch3, 3hdc) into same space. 3 hdc in next space, work corner in next space. 3 hdc in each of next 6 spaces, work corner, 3 hdc in next space, work corner, 3 hdc in last 6 spaces and join. – 4 corners, 14 clusters
Round 4: Sl St in first 2 st and into corner. ch2, (2 hdc, ch3, 3 hdc) all in same space. 3 hdc in next 2 spaces. Work corner, 3 hdc in next 7 spaces. Corner, 3 hdc in next 2 spaces, corner, 3 hdc in last 7 spaces and join. – 4 corners, 18 clusters.
Round 5: Sl St in first 2 st and corner space. Ch2, (2hdc, ch3, 3 hdc) all in same space. 3 hdc in next 3 spaces. Work next corner, 3 hdc in next 8 spaces, corner, 3 hdc in next 3 spaces, corner, 3 hdc in last 8 spaces. Join – 4 corners, 22 clusters
Round 6: Sl St in first 2 st and into corner space. Ch2, (2hdc, ch3, 3 hdc) in same space. 3 hdc in next 4 spaces, work corner. 3 hdc in next 9 spaces, corner, 3 hdc in next 4 spaces, corner, 3 hdc in last 9 spaces. Join – 4 corners, 26 clusters
Round 7: Ch1, sc around in each st working 4sc in each corner space. Join to beg sc. Do not finish off. Base complete
NOTE: In this portion of the pattern, you will see cluster and shell:
*Cluster = (YO)Yarn over, insert hook into designated stitch. *Yo, pull through st, yo, pull through first 2 loops (without finishing the dc)* 7 times. YO and pull through all 8 loops on hook.
*Shell = 7 dc in same stitch (this will be worked into the loop formed on the top of each cluster
Round 8: sc in same stitch, sk 2, Work shell into next stitch (first shell made). skip 3, sc in next st, sk 2, shell in next, sk 3, sc in next, sk 2, shell in next, sk 2, sc in next, sk2, shell in next, skip 2, sc in next, sk2, shell in next, skip 2, sc in next, skip 2, shell in next, skip 2, sc in next, skip 2, shell in next, sk2, sc in next, sk2, shell in next, skip 3, sc in next, (skip2, shell in next, skip 2, sc in next) around remaining stitches and join to beginning. – 18 shells – Change color
Round 9: slip stitch to the 4th dc, ch1, sc in same stitch, *ch3, work 1 cluster over next 7 stitches, ch3, sc in the next stitch. Repeat from * to end. Join to first sc.
Round 10: Ch1, sc in same stitch, *sk 3 ch, work 7 dc into the loop which closed the next cluster, sk 3, sc in next sc. Repeat from *till end. – change color
Round 11: Sl st to the 4th dc, ch1, sc in same stitch, *ch3, work cluster over next 7 stitches, ch3, sc in next stitch. Repeat from * to end. Join to first sc.
Repeat rounds 10 and 11 until you get the desired height on your basket.
Edging – Sc in each stitch around and finish off.
HANDLE:
You can make the handle as long of short as you like, I made mine the length of 13 wheels
Chain 76
6 dc in 4th chain from hook – first shell. Skip 2, sl stitch in next. Sk2, 7 dc in next st. *skip 2, sl stitch in next, skip 2, 7 dc in next* 10 times. Sk 2, sl stitch in next, sk 2, 14 dc in last stitch working around to other side. – *sk 2, sl stitch in next, sk 2, 7 dc in next* repeat to end and sl stitch to beginning chain 3.
I went around one more time for each of the other 2 colors using sc around to edge the handle and finished off.
With embroidery needle, attach the handle to inside of the basket.
