Poetry Cards

Poetry Cards

This project makes rhyming fridge cards which are individual word cards. Stick them to your fridge and create little poems or messages.

What you need

Strip magnets or individual magnets
Plain light colored cardboard.
Glue

Instructions

Start by thinking of the words you are going to require. Each card will have it’s own word on it, so consider words that will be suitable for poems. E.g. descriptive words and action words like crying, running, silent and rainy.

Next cut your cardboard into rectangles. The size will be based on what type of magnets you are using.

If you are using a cut-able magnet sheet, then the size of your cardboard doesn’t matter. Cut the magnet to match.

If you are using a solid magnet then ensure the magnet covers the full center of the cardboard rectangle to help keep it balanced while on the fridge.

Write out your words onto the cardboard. Don’t forget things like I, we, us etc. Once you have written your words out and the ink has dried, glue the magnet onto the backs.

Now all you have to do is use your creative mind to come up with a poem!
