DIY: Cinnamon Sugar Scrub

DIY: Cinnamon Sugar Scrub

I love experimenting with new scrubs, and this one is a definite hit for me! This cinnamon sugar scrub is super moisturizing and rejuvenating. If you have dry skin like me, you'll be amazed at the wonders olive oil does for your skin. The abrasive properties of the sugar provide a nice exfoliating combination and the olive oil balances out the overall texture. The cinnamon is a plus, it has great benefits for the skin and gives the scrub a nice sweet scent.

What you need

Sugar-3 part
Olive Oil-2 part
Cinnamon powder-1/2 tsp
Cinnamon Essential Oil-few drops

Instructions

1. Combine the sugar and olive oil. Mix well. (Adjust depending on how abrasive/moisturizing you want the scrub)

2. Add in the cinnamon powder.

3. Add a few drops of the essential oil to give off a nice scent.

Store in a nice container and apply as needed. Does not need to be washed off.

  1. I can understand not “washing” it off as that would strip away all the effects of the oil. But I would sure wish to rinse off the sugar, I can think of all kinds of problems leaving sugar on your skin could cause in the summer! Think……….bees……….ants……….flies……..lol

  2. Found my containers and essential oil on Amazon 🙂 Wanted to put a note, this took way more than the cinnamon powder and oil it said. Was that just me? It only smelled like olive oil until I about tripled, maybe quadrupled the cinnamon. I used 3 cups sugar and 2 cups olive oil.

Hi Susanna! I’m so excited that you tried it out! Thank you for adding your helpful hint. I forgot to mention that you may need more or less of the essential oil depending on the strength of it. Thanks again for trying the project out, I hope you enjoyed the DIY!

  3. Where do you buy the essential oils? I saw some at Wal-Mart near the candles, but I wasn’t sure if that was it. Thanks!

Hi Kristen! I buy my essential oils online, but I know that a lot of health food store sell them. I have heard that you can find them at Walgreens, but have never looked. Hope this helps! xx

  4. Would love to see a suggestion of where to buy little containers to put this in for gifting?

    • The container store has a multitude of options both in glass and plastic

      • If you google “bulk jars” you can find all kind of websites that are inexpensive if you buy in bulk. Also walmart has mason jars, or jam jars, but Im not sure how I feel about buying essential oils from walmart. For quality essential ois I would go with DoTerra, Young Living, Eadens Garden, Frontier-Co op, Mountain Rose Herbs, or From Nature with Love. The last two mentioned have some containers as well and great product bases. Have fun and enjoy!

Hi Susanna! You can easily find some online on Amazon or Etsy. Try looking in Hobby Lobby and Michaels as well.
