Round 1
Start with a slip knot and then stitch 8 chains.
Take the chain and insert the hair elastic through the chain. Form a loop using the chain by joining
it with the first stitch.
Round 2
Chain 2 and then work half double crochet into each chain of the first row.
Round 3
Find your first half double crochet and work a slip stitch to the top of it. Chain 2 again and repeat
round 2.
Round 4
After working each round, make sure to find the first half double crochet of the current row and
work a slip stitch into it. And then repeat round 2 until the whole hair elastic is covered.
The rest of the Rounds
As we started our crochet with 8 chain stitches, you will have to keep in mind to keep that number
constant for each round; which means that you have to work 8 half double crochet in each round.
Finishing Round
Once you are satisfied with the length of the pattern and also, the elastic is covered you can stop
crocheting. Keep about 10 inches of yarn attached and cut off the rest. Thread a needle to the yarn
through its open end and work mattress stitch to join both ends of the crochet pattern.
Completing
Weave over and under for an extra secure stitching. Work a slip knot and then cut off extra yarn.
