Shamrock Petal (make 3)

  1. Cast on 2 stitches. 
  2. Row 1: Knit 2. 
  3. Row 2: Purl 2. 
  4. Row 3: Cast on 1, knit 2, kfb (4 sts). 
  5. Row 4: K1, P2, K1. 
  6. Row 5: Cast on 1, knit 4, kfb (6 sts). 
  7. Row 6: K2, P2, K2. 
  8. Row 7: Cast on 1, knit 6, kfb (8 sts). 
  9. Row 8: K3, P2, K3. 
  10. Row 9: Knit across. 
  11. Row 10: K3, P2, K3. 
  12. Row 11: Knit across. 
  13. Row 12: K3, P2, K3. 
  14. Row 13: Knit 4, turn. 
  15. Row 14: Knit 4, turn. 
  16. Row 15: K2tog, K2tog, then pass back stitch over front stitch (1 st remains). 

Shaping the Petal Tip

  • Pick up 3 stitches along the left side of the petal. 
  • Cast them off with the single stitch on your needle. 
  • Knit 1 from the left needle, pass previous stitch over. (1 st remains). 
  • Knit 3 stitches, turn. 
  • K2tog, K2tog, pass back stitch over front stitch (1 st remains). 
  • Bind off. 

Weave in the yarn ends at the petal tips, leaving the base tails for sewing.

Assemble the Shamrock

  • Sew the three petals together at the base. 

Stem (I-cord)

  • Pick up 3 stitches from the base with double-pointed needles. 
  • Knit an i-cord for about 3 inches. 
  • Cast off.
