What you need
Worsted weight yarn
4.5 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle
Small beads
Sewing needle and thread
Instructions
Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.
Carrying the yarn end along the outside of the ring, make 8 single crochet in the ring.
Working in a spiral, make 24 single crochet, then fasten off with a long yarn end. Thread into a yarn needle.
Pull the yarn end from the beginning of the project to close up the hole,then pull that yarn end into the inside of the ball.
Stuff the ball with cotton, weave the needle through the last row of stitches, and pull to close up the top of the ball.
Take a few stitches to secure it, and then form a loop with the yarn, take a few stitches to secure the loop, then pass the yarn end through the center of the ball and cut off.
With a sewing needle and thread, sew beads all over the ball.

Clarification needed for newbies.
By: “Working in a spiral, make 24 single crochet,…” is it meant to be all 1 sc in every sc, after initial 8 sc?

Yes, working a spiral means to work in each stitch, but there is no slip stitch to join, nor chain 1 and turn… so you just work round and round, for 24 stitches.
