Buffalo Check Recycled Mason Jars

This craft project used upcycled jars to create a festive buffalo check jar.

What you need

Cleaned pasta sauce jar (label removed, I soaked mine in water for a while and it slipped right off)

I used Waverly chalk paint but any kind works in gray, black and white

Painters tape

Paint Brushes

Scissors

Dollar Tree jute twine or whatever twine you have on hand

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to create a beautiful and charming buffalo check jar using upcycled mason jars. So, grab your materials and let’s get started on creating this budget-friendly, unique and environmentally-friendly home decor.

Start by painting the entire jar with 3 coats of the white chalk paint

Once completely dry add strips of the painters tape. So lay 3 pieces down next to each other and then remove the middle one to create a striped look

Using the gray paint, paint the spaces in between the tape

Then repeat the same process with the tape but horizontally and paint the in between lines using the gray paint. I did a few coats of the gray paint.

Using the black paint on alternating squares paint black to give the buffalo check look

I wrapped the top of the jar completely with twine and then tied in a bow.
