3 oz of worsted weight yarn (in chicken color and small amounts in red and yellow)
Size G hook
2 buttons for eyes
toy stuffing
yarn needle
Instructions
BODY
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 7 hdc in first ch. Join (8 hdc)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in same placed and 2 hdc in each hdc around. Join. (16 hdc)
Rnds 3 – 5: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc around. Join (16 hdc)
Rnd 6: Ch 2, hdc in next 2 hdc, (2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 3 hdc) around. Join (20 hdc)
Rnd 7: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc around. Join (20 hdc)
Rnd 8: Ch 2, hdc in next 3 hdc, (2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 4 hdc) around. Join (24 hdc)
Rnd 9: Ch 2, hdc in same place, (hdc in next hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc) around. Join (36 hdc)
Rnd 10: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc around. Join (36 hdc)
Rnd 11: Ch 2, hdc in same place, (hdc in next 2 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc) around. Join (48 hdc)
Rnd 12: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc around. Join (48 hdc)
Rnds 13 – 16: Repeat rnd 12.
Rnd 17: Ch 2, hdc in next 2 hdc, (dec over next 2 hdc, hdc in next 3 hdc) around. Join (39 hdc)
Rnd 18: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc around. Join
Rnd 19. Ch 2, hdc in next hdc, (dec over nex5t 2 hdc, hdc in next 2 hdc) around. Join (30 hdc)
Rnd 20: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc around. (30 hdc)
Rnd 21: Ch 2, dec over next 2 hdc, (hdc in next hdc, dec over next hdc) around. Finish off. Stuff and gather opening to close.
WINGS (Make 2)
Row 1: Ch 2, 2 sc in second chain from hook, ch 1, turn (2 sc)
Row 2: 2 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn (4 sc)
Row 3: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn (6 sc)
Row 4: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn (8 sc)
Row 5: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch, turn (10sc)
Row 6-7-8: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (10 sc)
Row 9: Dec over first 2 sc, sc in 6 sc, dec over last 2 sc, ch 1, turn (8 sc)
Row 10: Sc across each sc, ch 1, turn (8 sc)
Row 11: Dec over first 2 sc, sc in next 4 sc, dec over last 2 sc, ch 1, turn (6 sc)
Row 12: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (6 sc)
Row 13: Dec over first 2 sc, sc in 2 sc, dec over last 2 sc (4 sc)
Finish off leaving length of yarn to attach to body.
LEGS (Make 2)
Chain 26
Row 1: 4 sc in each chain across
Row 2: FOOT Attach yellow in first sc of leg, chain 6, turn, sc in each next 5 ch, sl st in next sc of leg (ch 6, sc in next 5 ch, sl st in next sc of leg) twice. Finish off.
BEAK
With yellow
Row 1: Ch 2, sc in second ch, ch 1, turn (1 sc)
Row 2: 2 sc in sc, ch, turn (2 sc)
Row 3: 2 sc in ea sc, ch 1, turn (4sc)
Row 4: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in last sc (6 sc)
Sew to head
Add two button eyes.
COMB
Attach red to middle of top of head between rows. Ch 3, 2 dc in same place, sc between next row, (ch 3, 2 dc in same place, sc between next row) 3 times. Finish off.
