- Row 2: Purl
- Repeat these 2 rows twice more
Next row: K2tog across
(4 sts)
Cut yarn, thread through remaining stitches, and pull tight.
Sew the short seam together to make a small rounded centre.
Assemble the Poppy
- Lay the 2 red petal pieces in a cross shape, slightly overlapping, to create 4 petals
- Sew together securely in the middle
- Stitch the black centre on top
- Fasten off neatly on the back
Optional Finishing Ideas
You can leave it flat or add:
- a green felt leaf
- a brooch pin backing
- a button centre
- a few tiny stitches to shape the petals if you want them a little more cupped
Tip
If you want a slightly fuller poppy, make the petals a little wider by casting on 28 stitches instead of 24.
Easy Wearing Option
To wear it for Anzac Day, simply sew a small safety pin or brooch clasp onto the back.
