What you need
- Wooden cutting board (any size, thrifted boards are perfect)
- 1 printed napkin (bunny + florals)
- Mod Podge (matte finish) or PVA glue thinned with water
- Clear food-safe varnish (for sealing)
- Small paintbrush or sponge brush
- Brown acrylic paint or strong brewed coffee for staining
- Sandpaper (fine grit)

Instructions
1. Prep the Board
Give your wooden cutting board a light sanding to remove any oils, stickers, or varnish. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and let dry.
2. Separate the Napkin Layers
Most napkins are 2–3 ply. Carefully peel away the white backing layers so you’re left with only the top printed sheet with the bunny design.
3. Tear for a Rustic Look
Instead of cutting with scissors, gently tear around the bunny and floral design. The rough edges will blend into the wood more naturally, giving it that weathered, primitive look.
4. Apply the Napkin
Brush a thin layer of Mod Podge onto the board where you want the bunny to sit. Lay the napkin down carefully, smoothing it with your brush or fingertips. Work slowly to avoid tearing—it’s delicate!
5. Seal the Design
Once it’s adhered, brush a thin layer of Mod Podge over the top of the napkin to seal it. Let dry completely.
6. Add Rustic Aging
Dip a dry brush into diluted brown acrylic paint (or dab with a coffee-soaked sponge) and lightly brush around the edges of the design and cutting board. Focus on the corners and edges where natural wear would occur. Dab lightly for a subtle stained effect.
7. Finish with Food-Safe Varnish
Once your design is fully dry, apply a few coats of clear food-safe varnish to protect the surface. Let each coat dry before applying the next.
