What you need
Glass slide
Judikins Diamond glaze
Peacock Feathers
Silver Bail
Instructions
Start by coating your glass slide in Diamond glaze. You want a nice thick coating so that it will secure the feather. Gently lay the feather down into position. Don’t move it one it is down or you will ruffle the plumes. Allow it to dry completely.
Trim off any excess and overhanging feathers with a sharp pair or scissors. Apply another coat of Diamond glaze making sure to coat the sides of the slide to seal the edges of the feathers.
Allow to dry and re-coat again if required.
Once completely dry turn it over and secure the silver bail (found at jewelry supply stores) with a dob of Diamond glaze.
All done!
So simple. Why didn’t I think of it?
sorry I followed the link for the silver bail and see you have given the info I was looking for thank you 🙂
its lovely but It does not explain what a glass slide is or where to get one and I would like that kind of information. thanks
I would also like know what a glass slide is and where to get one and what is diamond glaze and where to get one. I have several peacocks and would like to make this for myself. Thanks
They are microscope slides. Maybe a hobby store would have some such as replacements for a microscope kit, or I’m sure they are also sold online.
