Breast Feeding Reminder Brooch

Breast Feeding Reminder Brooch

My friend was complaining about forgetting which side was for the next feed when Breastfeeding, so I made her this pin to help her remember. Hope this helps other breastfeeding mums out there.

What you need

Metal Brooch base
Assorted Beads
Craft Glue
Miniature Bottle

Instructions

My friend was complaining about forgetting which side was for the next feed when Breastfeeding.

So I decided to make a brooch for her to wear.

I found the bottle trinkets in a toy store.

I started by covering the brooch with craft glue.

Place the bottle into the centre and then I just added the assorted Pearl Beads around the edges to look like Milk bubbles.

These would make great gifts for new mums and could be pinned onto a handmade baby card.

Note: You can add whatever trinkets you can get your hands on. Please do not e-mail me asking me why there is a bottle if it is for Breastfeeding. It is a “Reminder pin” of which side to use next when breastfeeding. The pin itself does not represent Breastfeeding.

  1. I searched and searched and searched the internet for a simple, practical craft for kids for World Breastfeeding Week. Yours is the first site I’ve found with a great idea. Thank you! When I was a breastfeeding mother (35 years ago!) I could never remember which side to begin on, especially during the night. I pinned just a plain old safety pin to my bra strap. This is reminiscent of those days for me.

  2. Wow! What an excellent idea! I love it when a solution is both brilliant and cute!

  3. To “Guest”…who wrote, “Do you know how many babies are killed each year by being bottle fed? You may well feel that craft is not political; I say otherwise ~ let’s promote breasts and breast feeding!”

I was one of the few whose body did not produce milk — I tried everything, to no avail. My twins were not killed because they were bottle fed. They are healthy toddlers, who are very smart. Breast feeding works for most, but for those of us who it doesn’t work for…think before you speak. Sometimes things that happen are out of our control.

Political? I think not. Cute? Absolutely!!

“surly the BABY would be a reminder… you dont need a broch to remind you- tha baby will be crying for milk … duhhh” for the person who posted this…it’s not to remind you TO feed, it’s a reminder on which SIDE to feed! didn’t you even read it?

  5. this is a cute and useful project it does’nt matter wether a bottle is there or not you make it however you want it to look like,so if you want to put a boob on it go on be my guest, but would’nt it look a little weird ?

  6. Nicely Done..

    From
Mother of 3 who breastfed all 3!

  8. I am a mom of a 6 month old baby girl, and y give my baby breastmilk in a bottle, so for me the bottle does remind me of breastfeeding…. by the way bottle fed does not kill babies, unresponsible parents do.

  9. I would MUCH rather find a representation of a breast to add! Do you know how many babies are killed each year by being bottle fed? You may well feel that craft is not political; I say otherwise ~ let’s promote breasts and breast feeding!

  10. Very cute and practical. I’m not a mum but Ithink it’s a lovely idea and would make a charming gift for a breastfeeding mum

  11. For people who are criticizing, please. It is a great idea! It doesnt matter what beads are used and I think the bottles are cute. It is a BROOCH, not a political statement for heavens sake. Know of what you speak before you do so.

  12. Have you ever had a baby? You can’t remember if you have clean underwear on never mind which breast you pumped/ feed at last….especially when you do it 12 times a day! AS an IBCLC, I wound’t use the bottle, but that’s easy enough to change! Great craft!

  13. oh good heavens! it’s a craft site, so there are CRAFT ideas here. chill out!! I think it’s adorable, and I would put a bottle on it, so that everyone who saw it would know what it is as soon as they looked at it. You wouldn’t put a breast on it!!!!

  14. cant she just write out reminders

  15. I think it’s a great idea, especially for mothers of multiples. You can’t remember which breast. Some babies suckle harder and you don’t want one breast to look larger than the other.

i think thats cool i will make one for my friend as a shower gift. Who cares if its a bottle its your pin, you do what you want!

  17. What a lovely idea and I agree the bottle is super cute and technically correct it’s not like you can glue on a fake breast as a decoration. Lighten up people. Another Great Free Project Crafbits

  18. Once again this is a reminder brooch the bottle does not represent anything but a baby. And a small reminder is that lot’s of breastfeeding mums express their milk into Bottles…
Soooo… technically its not incorrect anyways…
