Tea Cozy – Country House

Add a door handle, knocker and letter box to the doors and complete this country house tea cozy.

What you need

2 oz (50g) Ball of white 8 ply wool
2 oz (50g) Ball of grey for the roof

Scraps of yarn in various colors
1 pair of No 8 (4mm) Needles
1 pair of No 4 (6mm) Needles

house is 8 inch x 10 inch (20cm x 27cm)

Tension: 7 1/2 stitches and 10 rows to 5 cm over st.st. Worked on 6mm needles.

Instructions

Walls: (work 2 pieces alike)

Using 6 mm needles and 2 strands of white cast on 30 sts.

1st Row*: Knit 1, purl 1, repeat from * to end of row.
Repeat the 1st row once more.
3rd Row: Knit all stitches.
4th Row: Purl all stitches.
Repeat the 3rd and 4th rows 18 times and Cast off.

Roof: (work 2 pieces alike)
Using 6mm needles and grey cast on 32 sts.
Knit 4 rows

5th Row:
Knit 1, knit 2 stitches together, knit to the last 3 stitches, knit 2 stitches together, knit 1.

6th Row:
Knit all stitches

7th Row: Knit all stitches

8th Row: Knit all stitches

Repeat these 4 Rows 5 times more.

Cast off.

Shutters and doors are the same, Decide how many of each you want. Making 2 shutters for each window.

Door:

Using 4mm needles and 1 strand of green cast on 14sts.
Knit 12 rows.
Cast off.

Shutters:

Using 4mm needles and 1 strand of green cast on 6 sts.
1st Row: K
2nd Row: K
3rd Row: Knit 1, pulr 4 , knit 1

Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows 4 times.
Last Row: Purl all stitches
Cast off.

Chimney:

Using 4mm needles and 1 strand of ivory , cast on 14sts.
Knit 12 rows.
Cast off.

To complete

Join side seams of walls.
Join side seams of rood and seam cast off edges.
Fold chimney in half and seam sides and sew to roof.
Place roof over walls and sew along them one ridge in from the edge.
Sew on doors and shutters. Embroider window panes between shutters.

Work flowers and leaves suing cross stitches, lazy daisy loops or a few stitches worked on top of each other.
