“Style” Newsboy Crochet Cap – Taylor’s Version

“Style” Newsboy Crochet Cap – Taylor’s Version

Certain styles can withstand the test of time, rising above trends and becoming endearing classics—like the allure of a classic red lip, or the charm of a fantastic newsboy cap! We all have those stand-out pieces in our wardrobe that we go to over and over again because they go with absolutely everything.

Imagine crocheting something so awesome—like one of those timeless classics in your closet—that friends and family members asked you to make one for them, too. When you know how to crochet, it’s inevitable that friends will ask you to whip up something special for them. We’ve all been there. Luckily this is a fast and gorgeous project to work on and you'll be stitching up gifts for all your besties in no time!

Instructions

This newsboy crochet pattern is worked from the top down, meaning you’ll be starting at the crown and stitching “round and round” to create the body of the hat. Finish by adding a structured brim, a final touch that elevates your creation from a mere accessory to a fashion statement that you’ll return to again and again.

MESH INSERT
Lace a piece of the brim over your plastic mesh and trace the shape with a marker. Cut out the piece to insert into the brim after joining.

JOINING
With two pieces atop each other, sc around front of brim through both thicknesses, leaving the straight/ long edge open. Turn piece right-side out to hide joining seam inside, insert plastic mesh. Sew remaining edge closed.

FINISHING
Sew Brim to front of hat across the long/straight edge. Weave in ends.

Taylor-Made For You
This hat is worked in a very specific yarn to achieve the best size and fit. If you plan on using a different yarn, that’s okay! Just be sure to match the gauge listed in the pattern.
