Size US 8 (5 mm) 36″ circular needle

Row 1 (WS): Purl
Rows 2–5: Knit
Row 6: *K1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k1; rep from *
Row 7: *P2tog tbl, yo, p3, yo, p2tog; rep from *
Row 8: *K1, yo, k2tog, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, k1; rep from *
Row 9: *P1, yo, p2tog, p1, p2tog tbl, yo, p1; rep from *
Row 10: *K2, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, k2; rep from *
Rows 11–14: Knit

Notes:

The two edge stitches are not included in the lace pattern; always knit the first and last stitch of each row.

 

Place stitch markers between repeats to keep track more easily.

 

Back

CO 86 sts with straight needles.

 

Knit 8 rows in garter st.

 

Work in Garland lace pattern for 10″ (or desired length).

 

Shape armholes: BO 4 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows.

 

Dec 1 st at each end every other row 3 times (72 sts).

 

Continue until armhole measures 10″.

 

BO 8 sts at the beginning of the next 4 rows.

 

Place remaining sts on holder.

 

Fronts (Make 2)

CO 44 sts.

 

Knit 8 rows in garter st.

 

Work in pattern for 10″.

 

Armhole: BO 4 sts once, then dec 1 st at armhole edge every other row 3 times (37 sts).

 

Work until armhole measures 7.5″.

 

Neck shaping: BO 10 sts at neck edge.

 

Then BO 2 sts every other row 5 times (17 sts).

 

Continue until armhole measures 10″.

 

At sleeve edge, BO 8 sts. Work 1 row, then BO 8 sts.

 

Sleeves

CO 37 sts.

 

Knit 8 rows garter st.

 

Begin lace pattern.

 

Inc 1 st each side every 10th row 7 times (51 sts).

 

Work until sleeve measures 17.5″ or desired length.

 

BO 4 sts at beginning of next 2 rows (43 sts).

 

Dec 1 st each side every 4th row 13 times (17 sts).

 

BO remaining sts.

 

Collar & Front Bands

Seam shoulders.

 

With circular needle, pick up stitches along front edge, across neckline, and down opposite side.

 

Knit 4 rows garter stitch.

 

BO all sts.

 

Finishing

Sew sleeves into armholes.

 

Seam sleeves and sides.

 

Weave in ends neatly.

 

Add your closure of choice: funky buttons, ribbon tie, or leave open for a bolero-style look.
