Instructions

Knee-Length Socks
Sizes: Small (7½), Medium (8½), Large (10)
- Cuff:
With contrast color and No. 2 needles, cast on loosely 44 (48, 52) sts. Join in the round, taking care not to twist.
Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 1 inch. - Main Pattern:
Switch to No. 4 needles and begin cable pattern as follows:- Round 1: Attach main color. On the first needle, p1, k10, p1; with contrast color, k6 (begin cable section); with main color, p1, k1. Divide remaining sts evenly across next two needles and knit around.
- Repeat Round 1 for 7 more rounds.
- Round 8: With main color, p1, k10, p1. With contrast color, make a cable over next 6 sts (slip 3 sts to cable needle, hold in back, k3 from left-hand needle, then k3 from cable needle). Continue in pattern.
- Repeat these 8 rounds until work measures 6″ (6½”, 7″).
- Leg Shaping:
Next round: P1, sl1, k1, psso, work in pattern to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Work 3 rounds even. Repeat this shaping 3 more times.
Continue even in pattern over 36 (40, 44) sts until leg measures 11½” (12½”, 13½”). - Heel:
With main color, work heel flap over 16 sts each side.
Work in stockinette stitch (sl1, k across; sl1, p across) for 17 (19, 21) rows.
Shape heel as follows:- K9, k2tog, k1, turn.
- Sl1, p3, p2tog, p1, turn.
- Continue in this manner, working 1 more st each row before each decrease until 10 sts remain.
- Foot:
Pick up 9 (10, 11) sts along each side of heel and knit across instep in pattern. Continue in round, decreasing for instep every other round until 37 (41, 45) sts remain.
Work even until sock measures 6½” (7½”, 8½”) from back of heel (or 2″ less than desired length). - Toe:
Shape toe by decreasing 4 sts every other round as follows:- K to last 3 sts of needle, k2tog, k1.
- On next needle, k1, sl1, k1, psso, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
- On final needle, k1, sl1, k1, psso, knit to end.
Repeat until 17 sts remain.
Weave sts together.
- Finishing:
Attach five small jingle bells to the top of the cable using short crochet chains in contrast color. Securely tie on the inside.
