Instructions

The Origami Butterfly designed for Guy Kawasaki’s book cover is a beautiful and intricate origami creation. Origami is an art form that involves folding paper into various shapes and designs. The butterfly is a common subject in origami and is known for its intricate folds and delicate features. This particular origami butterfly was designed specifically for Guy Kawasaki, an entrepreneur and author who is known for his work in technology and business.

Guy Kawasaki is a Hawaiian of Japanese heritage, and his work embodies metamorphosis, unexpected delight, and the pollination-like spread of great ideas and winning attitudes. He has written numerous books on entrepreneurship, marketing, and technology, including “The Art of the Start” and “Enchantment,” which features the origami butterfly on its cover. The butterfly represents the transformative nature of Guy’s work and the beauty that can be found in unexpected places.

The design of the Origami Butterfly is intricate and delicate, with each fold and crease carefully crafted to create the illusion of a real butterfly. The design was created by an origami artist and shared on Reddit [2], where it gained popularity and caught the attention of Guy Kawasaki, who commissioned the artist to create a butterfly specifically for his book cover. The butterfly was folded from silver tissue foil [2], which gives it a stunning, reflective quality that catches the light and draws the eye.

A variation of the popular Alexander Swallowtail, this design was originally folded in a composite of fine Japanese printed washi, and handmade Origamido papers.

This design introduces both the “Swallowtail” hindwing, and the “Angelwing” treatment on the forewing.
