DIRECTIONS FOR STARCHING:

Dissolve 1/4 cup starch in 1/2 cup of cold water. Boil about 1 1/4 cups of water, remove from flame, then slowly stir the starch mixture into boiling water stirring constantly. Place back on flame until it thickens.

As soon as starch is cool enough to handle, dip slipper, squeeze starch through it thoroughly. Wring out extra starch.

The article should be wet with starch but there should be none in the spaces. Place over mold and let dry.

Have looked for this pattern for years; I have one slipper that my aunt crocheted for my bridal shower more than 50 years ago and have her molds (from the 40’s) but could not find the pattern. Thanks to Karen (Grandmother.s Pattern’s) who went to the trouble of finding your website and being kind enough to email me the link, Not only have I found my pattern but a great new web site as well. Thanks

  4. This pattern is so sweet and dainty. I remember my mama used to have some of these on the dressers of our bedrooms. She put small sprigs of leaves and some small petaled flowers in them. I love this website. I have a question: WHERE do you purchase a No. 7 slipper mold?
