What you need
1/2 cup of honey
2 cups of sugar
1 tbs of white vinegar
1/4 cup of water
Lemon extract essence
Heavy Plastic Spoons
Instructions
Place all the ingredients (except the essence) into a heavy bottom saucepan. Bring to the boil constantly stirring and brushing down the sugar from the sides. Bring it to a gentle simmer and cook until it reaches hard crack stage. To test for hard crack stage you will need to carefully drip it into a glass of cold water when it reaches crack stage it instantly goes hard in the water.

Once it has reached the correct stage, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool slightly, add the essence and then dip your spoons into the toffee and place them down onto a greased cookie tray to set.
Honey spoons are a great gift idea at Christmas time too. Perfect for gifting to someone who is feeling the flu or a cold as the honey soothes the throat and the lemon on the spoon is antibacterial.
Finish this project off by wrapping them in cellophane and attaching a handmade tag or label. You might like these Honey stickers we found on Amazon for adding to your bagged spoons.
awesome.. how long does these last on spoon? do they melt back to liquid? i would like to mail some to a friend but i am afraid.. any tips?
I think mailing them would be too hard. The temperature needs to be maintained.
from second love store brought steel spoons (50 for $5.00) ..Painted handles and put stickers/ bling on handles… Sold them as SPCA fund raiser for fostering of sick and hurt dogs and cats….. All sold within 1 hour…
Now hunting for more spoons…
PS.. different flavouring toffee spoons is next on my list…
great idea if a friend or family member is sick or has the witer flu.
my mom loves lemon and honey and we are big tea drinkers it will be awsome when i suprise her
I would NOT use plastic spoons just because if the plastic spoon heats up too much it can release cancer causing chemicals and you could die from it.
Heat resistant spoons are better.
I haven’t made them yet, but need to know how many this recipe will make to make sure I have enough spoons.
this is cool but i did mine another way i put honey and lemon juice on the spoon and forze it for a little while but it was still yummy 🙂
this is a really great idea! im going to use steel spoon and paint the end of the spoon to make an unusual cool gift!
thanks
