What you need
A large piece of cardboard or
A marker or paint pen
26 small toy cars (Hot Wheels, Matchbox, or any small vehicles)
Optional: Colored tape or stickers for extra decoration
Instructions
Step 1: Draw the Parking Lot
Start by grabbing your cardboard and drawing a parking lot with 26 spaces—one for each letter of the alphabet. Make sure the spaces are big enough for the cars but not so large that they slide around. You can even add some road lines or signs if you want to get extra creative!
Step 2: Add the Letters
Now, write one letter in each parking space from A to Z. Feel free to use uppercase, lowercase, or a mix of both, depending on your child’s skill level.
Step 3: Label the Cars
Take your toy cars and write a matching letter on each one. You can write it on the roof, hood, or side of the car—whatever works best. Want to make it more colorful? Use different colors for vowels and consonants!
Time to Play!
Letter Matching – Have your child match each car to the correct parking spot by finding the right letter.
Spell Your Name – Ask them to park the cars in order to spell their name (or a friend’s name).
Alphabet Order Race – Set a timer and see how fast they can park all the cars from A to Z!
Make Words – Once they’ve mastered the alphabet, encourage them to build simple words with the cars.
