Crochet Pokemon Poke Balls

Crochet Pokemon Poke Balls

These little Poke balls, shown in two different sizes, are very quick, easy and fun to knit for the Pokemon Go fan in your life.

What you need

small amounts of red, black and white medium weight yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver)
size 7 US/H/5 mm crochet hook
fiberfill stuffing

Instructions

Instructions are given for the smaller size, with the larger size in parentheses. You can use the same idea to make balls of any size.

Using white, chain 4 (6). Make a slip stitch in the first chain to join in ring.

Work 6 (12) single crochet in the ring. Make a slip stitch in the first stitch to join round.

Work 2 single crochet in each single crochet stitch; 12 (24) stitches. Make a slip stitch in the first stitch to join round.

*Work 2 single crochet in the first single crochet, 1 single crochet in the second. Repeat from * around; 18 (36) stitches. Make a slip stitch in the first stitch to join round.

Work 3 (4) rounds single crochet, joining the end of the round with a slip stitch as established.

Change to black and work 2 (3) rounds single crochet.

Change to red and work 3 (4) rounds even.

*Decrease 1, single crochet. Repeat from * around; 12 (24) stitches.

Decrease 2 single crochets into 1 around; 6 (12) stitches. Add stuffing to ball.

Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Use a yarn needle to weave the tail through the stitches at the top and close up the top of the ball.

For the button, using black, chain 4 (6) and use a slip stitch in the first chain to join the round.

Work 6 (12) single crochet in loop and fasten off.

Use white yarn to sew the button over the center section of the ball (I covered up the spots where I changed colors).

  1. I am not a fan of the recently developed Pokemon app but I used to be a big Pokemon series fan when I was younger. While reading through your post, I had an idea which I would love to share with the other readers – you could try knitting a much bigger Pokemon ball and fill it with cotton. Then you could use it as a pillow or as a stool.
