Crochet A Kids Unisex Beanie In 30 Minutes

Here is a pattern for a crochet unisex beanie hat which is ready in 30 minutes flat. Who will you make this for?

What you need

Worsted weight yarn
9 mm crochet hook

Instructions

Gauge: 2 stitches long by 2 rows high = 1 sq inch.

Change colors as desired.

AGE 2 – 4 HAT:
1. Working with 2 strands of yarn, and a 9 mm crochet hook: Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.

2. Chain 2, make 8 double crochet in the ring, slip stitch to join in the top of the 1st dc.

3. Chain 2 and turn, make 2 single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. (16 stitches)

4. Repeat step 3 (32 stitches)

5. *Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. (Black used in this sample.)

6. Repeat from * for 1 row, fasten off and attach another color for a contrasting color band, or work in the same color.

7. *Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. (White used in this sample.)

8. Repeat from * for one more row, and fasten off. (Black used in this sample.)

Weave all yarn ends into the finished work.

      Try larger hook or add more repeats of row 3 until it is the circumference of your head then go to row 5.

  2. It sounds easy enough for me to try it. I crochet but don’t really follow directions. These sound like I can follow them.
