Step-by-Step Instructions
Body
- Cast On: 18 sts (arrange as 5, 4, 5, 4 across four dpns, or use stitch markers if working on circulars).
- Round 1: Knit.
- Round 2: (K4, kfb, k3, kfb) twice. (22 sts)
- Round 3: Knit.
- Round 4: (Kfb, knit to last st on needle, kfb) repeat around. (30 sts)
- Rounds 5–6: Repeat Rounds 3 and 4 once more. (38 sts)
Separate for sleeves:
- Knit 1st section, slip next section onto scrap yarn, knit 3rd section, slip last section onto scrap yarn.
Now continue just with the body stitches.
7. Knit every round until you have about 8 rounds (or desired length).
8. Work one round of (k1, p1) ribbing.
9. BO in pattern.
Sleeves (work both the same)
- Place sleeve stitches back onto needles.
- Pick up 1 st under the arm, join yarn, and knit around.
- Knit 7 more rounds.
- Work one round of (k1, p1) ribbing.
- BO in pattern.
Weave in all ends neatly.
Finishing Touches
- Add stripes by changing colors as you knit.
- Use duplicate stitch or embroidery to add snowflakes, initials, or even a tiny Christmas tree.
- Sew on beads for baubles, or a bit of white yarn for a snowman.
DIY Mini Hanger
- Cut about 6” (15 cm) of craft wire.
- Fold in half and pinch the fold with pliers.
- Shape the fold into a little “?” hook.
- Twist the two wire ends together, then spread them apart to form the hanger base.
- Curl the tips under with pliers to prevent sharp edges.
- Slip into the sweater neck and hang it proudly on your tree!
Tip from my craft table: These also make darling gift-tag toppers. Pop one onto a wrapped present, and the ornament becomes part of the gift!

Very cute! Last year I made little mittens to send in my Christmas cards – huge hit! Maybe sweaters this year! Thank you so much!
