Epiphany Bag Crochet Pattern

An easy crochet bag using simple instructions.

What you need

2 skeins Lion Brand Jiffy Thick & Quick; 212 Adirondacks (84 yds ea) (MC)
1 skein Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick; Claret 243 (108 yds) (BC)
Size K hook

Instructions

Measurements: (before washing) Strap: 36″ long, 1 3/4 wide Bottom: 9.5″ across Body: 12″ tall, 28″ around Note: Bag is worked from bottom up.

All stitches done in back loops. All stitches done in half double crochet (hdc). Do not turn work, done in rounds. All yarn will be used, next to none leftover. Half Double Crochet: Yarn over, insert hook in stitch, draw loop through, yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Directions: With BC, ch 3, join with sl st to form a ring

Row 1: ch 2, work 9 hdc in ring, join with sl st to top of ch 2

Row 2: ch 2, hdc in same st, work 2 hdc in ea st around, join with sl st to top of ch 2

Row 3: ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next st, (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st) repeat around, join with sl st to top of ch 2

Row 4: ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next 2 sts, (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts) repeat around, join with sl st to top of ch 2

Row 5: ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next 3 sts, (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 3 sts) repeat around, join with sl st to top of ch 2

Row 6: ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next 4 sts, (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 4 sts) repeat around, join with sl st to top of ch 2

Row 7: ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next 5 sts, (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 5 sts) repeat around, join with sl st to top of ch 2 Fasten off, leaving tail to weave in Body of Bag: With MC join with sl st to bottom of bag

Row 8-23: ch 2, hdc in ea st around, join with sl st to top of ch 2; at end of row 23, fasten off, leaving tail to weave in

Row 24: with BC join with sl st, ch 2, hdc around

Row 25: ch 2, hdc in next 13 sts, ch 10 (this will be loop to draw straps through), sk next 10 sts, hdc in next 26 sts, sk next 10 sts, ch 100 (this will be long strap), join with st st next st after sk 10, hdc in next 9, join with sl st to top of ch 2

Row 26-27: ch 2, hdc around, join with sl st to top of ch 2

Row 28: ch 1, sl st in ea st around.

Fasten off, leaving tail to weave in

  1. this is the exact bag I have been looking for.. in pattern it says ch100 for handle, it doesnt say anything about doing more rows for the handle.. when I make it up, if I dont think the handle is wide enough, I will add more rows.
