This Christmas knitting pattern shows you how to knit a child's elf style beanie perfect for outings during the holiday season.

What you need

Using double worsted (8ply) and size 8 US (4 mm needles)
Size to suit 1-4 year old

Instructions

Cast on 120 stitches

Rib ( k1 p1) for 6 rows

Row 7 knit

Row 8 purl

Row 9 ( k2 tog k2) to the end (84 sts)

Stocking stitch 5 rows

Change to green

Stocking stitch 8 rows

Change to white

Stocking stitch 8 rows

Change to red

Begin decreeing on this block of colour

( k4 k2 tog)to the end. (70 sts)

Now work 7 rows stocking stitch

Change to green.

( k4 k2 tog) to the end. (59 sts)

Stocking stitch 7rows

Change to white

( k4 k2 tog) to the end. Finish with k5 (50 sts)
