Make your own Diaper bag

Make your own Diaper bag

A very simple pattern to create your own diaper bag.

What you need

Stiff sew in interfacing about 3/4 yard,
Fabric of your choice About 3/4 yard.
Liner fabric of your choice about 3/4 yard

Instructions

Cut out 2 18 inch squares of fabric and of the interfacing.

Cut out 2, 4 inch wide by 25 inch strips. Do this with the interfacing also. But leave about a 5 inch hole at the bottom. You will use this later to turn the bag.

The straps need to be sewn. There are two ways to do this. You can iron a quarter inch seam on both sides then fold in half and iron again. Then sew up the side. or you can make a tube and turn it. I recommend the first one. It’s so much easier.

Then turn the outside of the bag and interfacing with the right sides on the outside.(the way it’s going to look when it’s finished)

Then slip the lining over the outside fabric. But this is going to be turned inside out. You will see the seams. Sew around the top.

Now turn the bag, through the opening you left in the lining. Then sew the hole up.

When it’s turned right, you will need to put a seam along the top about a quarter inch down.

This makes a much cleaner line and more professional look.

  1. directions are not easy to follow. It could use some pictures..

  2. Huh!

  3. I am not the best sewer I need patterns other than that it is a cute bag

  4. Maybe because I’m a quilter, these directions made perfect sense to me since I’ve used these techniques on quilted projects before, but I can see how they might be confusing to someone who hasn’t sewn much.
    Great Project!!

  6. Thought this might be a nice project for some of my students, but these directions are not very easy to read and follow.
