Bath Bomb – Vanilla Dreams

Bath Bomb – Vanilla Dreams

This is a recipe that makes 7 medium sized bath bombs with vanilla fragrance.

What you need

1 1/4 cups of Baking soda or Bicarbonate of Soda
1/2 cup of Citric acid
2 tsp of Almond Oil or Apricot kernel oil
1/2 tbs of Water
3 Vanilla pods
5 drops of Food colouring or Bath bomb mica

10-15 drops of Vanilla fragrance oil

Instructions

Combine the dry ingredients in bowl and stir until well mixed. Drizzle in the almond oil and stir until mixture is moistened. Add more oil and fragrance and stir until well mixed.

Then add the water and the vanilla essence or the vanilla beans taken from the pods by splitting the vanilla pods and scraping the insides out. If mixture is crumbly then add more oil or a dash of water.

Roll the mixture into a ball using your hands or press it into a lightly oiled mold, such as a Bath Bomb mold or a chocolate mold. Let it slip out from the mold.

Put the ball/shape on a sheet of wax paper and leave it to dry till it is hard. It may take several days. Store in an airtight container

Use 1 bomb per bath.

When we make our own DIY Bath Bombs we use and highly recommend this bath bomb mold for making single bath bombs or if you are making multiple bath bombs you may want to check out these silicon multi bath bomb molds and even a bath bomb press if you intend on making hundreds of Bath bombs for selling or gifts.

  1. Looks beautiful! Wonderint what the little pearl look on bombs is from?

  2. where do you get the bath bomb molds? lol HALP! 🙂

    • You can purchase plastic ornaments balls from Amazon. Sizes normally range from 50 mm (small), 80 mm (3.15 in. which is huge), up to 120 mm I believe. I use the 50, and 80 myself. You can also use the hard plastic Jello molds they sell in the little box kits in stores like Walmart. Hope that helps 🙂

  3. umm……….. how do u use this

  4. I too had the fizzing problem but here’s the solution… Wait. After you mix it let it sit for maybe 5 or 10 minutes and the mix will start to dry and be almost crumbly, it will be fizzy and puffy in the bowl but once that goes away then the mix will let you pack it into molds and it will keep the shape really nicely. Also you can use any oil you have in the house (I had an almondy smelling Vitamin E oil that worked great) instead of buying almond oil. I found all my supplies at a health food store in the bulk section.

  5. i gave this a go following everything right i think but when i placed them into a mould they expanded out, i try rolling them into a ball and when i placed them down a few seconds later they expanded out again. i went with it and they did dry perfectly and smell lovely and fizzed but they didn’t look at all attractive what i’m i doing wrong???
