Knitted Toilet Mat

Make this pedestal mat from this knitting pattern.

What you need

Pedestal mat: 17 inch by 20 inch (43cm x 51cm)

50g balls
1 pair of number 4 (6mm) needles
Pedestal mat
4 balls of main shade A
2 ball each of 2 contrasts

Tension
16sts and 20 rows to 10cm. On 6mm
needles over double moss stitch.

Instructions

Work as for the bath mat from ** to **.

Work 3rd-6th rows once, then 1st and 2nd rows once.

Continue with 3rd-6th rows once.

To shape mat

Keeping single lines in B as set, divide for sides as follows.

1st Row: Patt22 cast of centre 25 sts, patt 22 . Complete 1st side on these 22sts, leaving rem. sts on holder.

Left side

Keeping patt as set decrease 1st on next 4 right side rows. Continue on remaining 18sts. until side from cast on edge measures
51cm. Cast off.

Right side

With wrong side (W.S) facing rejoin yarn at inner edge of remaining 22 sts. Work as for other side until same length. Cast Off.

  4. Yes they do look nice but I too would like to know what weight yarn to use.

      I used a worsted weight cotton, it holds its shape well and can be tossed in the washer as often as necessary.

  5. Looks really nice but what weight yarn do I have to use? Is it a cotton yarn or what?
