Crochet A Smiley Face Coaster

Brighten someone's day by crocheting a smiley face coaster. Keep for yourself or give as a gift.

What you need

Small amount of yellow worsted wt. cotton
Size “H” Hook
Small amount of black felt
Glue
One CD

Instructions

Make 2

Do not join rounds but mark the beginning of each round.

Rnd 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in second ch (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in eac sc (12 sc)

Rnd 3: 2 sc in first sc, (1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (18 sc)

Rnd 4: 2 sc in first sc, (1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (24 sc)

Rnd 5: 2 sc in first sc, (1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (30 sc)

Rnd 6: 2 sc in first sc, (1 sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (36 sc)

Rnd 7: 2 sc in first sc,.(1 sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (40 sc)

Rnd 8: 2 sc in first sc, (1 sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (48 sc) Finish off first piece.

Do not finish off second piece but continue as follows:

Hold the two pieces together with wrong sides facing, Insert hook through both layers, ch 1, sc in same place and in each sc around.

Before coming to the end, insert disk and continue with sc. Sl st to first sc then reverse sc (crab stitch) around whole piece. Join and finish off.

Cut out eyes and mouth and glue to each side of piece.

  3. This is simply adorable! =:) I really could use this to brighten up those “gloomy-not-feeling- to-great” days. Might also make one for my sister, she love smiley faces!
