Peppermint Candy Spoons

Peppermint Candy Spoons

This project shows you how to make peppermint flavored candy spoons. These are perfect for soothing the sore throat!

What you need

34 Average sized peppermint candies
2 tbs of Corn syrup
25-30 Heavy plastic spoons

Instructions

Unwrap and crush your chosen peppermint candies until they are broken up into small pieces. You can do this easily with a rolling pin.

Place the candy pieces and the corn syrup into a pan and over a low heat allow the candy to melt down and mix with the corn syrup.

Once the candy is melted take it off the heat and using a metal spoon, place a scoop of the new candy mix into the well of each spoon.

You can use a cookie tray that has been lined and place the spoon handles on the edge of the tray making them higher than the well end of the spoon so that the toffee won’t spill out.

Place the spoon in a fridge and allow to set.

Once the candy spoons have set wrap them up in cellophane.

Comments

  1. I make these with caramel and toffee candies, along with the peppermint, and then dip in white or dark chocolate. They make great coffee stirrers.I use lollipop wraps and metallic ribbon, then add miniature holly or ornaments/decorations to make really classy looking and tasty treats for holiday gifts.

  2. I gave these away in Christmas gift baskets and they were a hit! I wrapped them in lollypop bags & tied with snowflake ribbon. Clear spoons also made them look a little classier. Mine didn’t turn brown (pink actually) and I found that if I used a little more corn syrup the hot candy was more manageable. These will definitely be a repeat gift item. I am curious as to how long they will keep for as I am thinking of giving them as favors at my wedding. If anyone has a good estimate on the shelf life, please comment. Thanks. Hope everyone enjoys this wonderful recipe.

  3. Looks AWESOME!!!!

  4. cool!

  5. Does it turn the brown color shown in the pictures? Is there a way for that not to happen?

To the person who asked about what you do with them…..wrap them in cellophane and tie with a ribbon. You can add to a small basket with different types of tea and sell or give as gifts.

You could melt white chocolate and crush peppermints. Then dip the spoon in white chocolate and sprinkle with crushed peppermints. Then make hot chocolate mix in a jar. decorate the jar. tie the spoons to the outside of the jar.

  6. I’m planning to make a gift basket for my friends birthday and these look ideal plus perfect for someone with a sweet tooth! Great idea!

  7. AWESOME!
    MY KIDS LOVED THEM THANKYOU!!!

  8. I haven’t made these yett, but I am going to make them and sellthem at a craft fair, so I am going to wrap them in sellefane and tie them with wribbion!!! Do you think that will work???? And how much should I sell them for???

  9. You can dip the spoons in chocolate and then sprinkle with crushed candy canes before letting them set. That will eliminate the long wait.

  10. What do you do with the spoons ?

  11. What do you actually do with these spoons at a wedding ? I am confused.
