DIY Ring Toss Game – 4th of July Party Game

DIY Ring Toss Game – 4th of July Party Game

This DIY Ring Toss project is a classic game guaranteed to bring fun to any outdoor party or 4th of July get together! I gave my version a bold patriotic twist, and used VELCRO® Brand Patriotic Décor Wraps in red, white, and blue to create the rings for the ring toss! They are colorful, hold their shape, and best of all are reusable for other projects!

What you need

VELCRO® Brand Patriotic Décor Wraps in red, white, and blue
Three 3/16 inch wood dowels (12 inches long)
A hand held power drill with 3/16 inch drill bit
Any left over piece of lumber you may have. The one pictured is 20 inches long by 3 1/2 inch wide
E6000 glue (optional) the wood dowels fit just fine for me but you may need a little glue to keep the dowels in place
Pencil to mark where you will be drilling
Painter’s tape (not pictured but very helpful in achieving this particular look)

Instructions

Here are the supplies:

* Painter’s tape not pictured but very helpful

I used a pencil to mark where I would drill, and drilled three holes about 1/2 inch deep and 8 inches apart

I painted the lumber base and wood dowels with white spray paint because when you add the other colors this will allow for them to show up much brighter!

I also used painter’s tape to help divide the red and blue sections, and I used a diagonal approach. At this point, I also painted one dowel blue and another one red.  The entire process took about 3 coats of paint and about 20 minutes for each coat to fully dry.

While the paint was drying I turned the VELCRO® Brand Patriotic Décor Wraps into large rings. They keep their shape perfectly and can be tossed far.

Finally, add the wood dowels to the base and it’s game time!
