Crochet Medicine Pouch

Crochet Medicine Pouch

We all need this. A medicine pouch that you can hang around your neck and that you can crochet yourself.

What you need

18 Hilos La Espiga nylon yarn
Size F (3.75 mm) crochet hook
glass beads (with medium/large holes)
yarn needle
stitch marker (a fish hook style earring works well for this)

Instructions

Special Stitch

Invisible Decrease
place hook through front loop only of the stitch you are skipping (front to back), do not yarn over, place hook the same way in the next stitch, yo, pull yarn through both stitches and complete as normal. This technique eliminates an obvious hole.

Note

Nylon yarn unravels very easily. Apply glue or nail polish on all ends to keep them intact.

Round 13
ch 1, *1 sc in sc, 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * all round (24 st)

Ch 95 (or to desired length) for neck strap. Sl st to opposite side of bag. Finish off. Weave in all ends with yarn needle.

Drawstring:

Ch 34. Finish off. (Make sure both ends have enough room for stringing on beads and tying knots.)

Weave drawstring through the hdc row, skipping every two or three stitches.

Bring both ends to front of bag. Slide beads onto the ends and knot the yarn after them. Discreetly glue the knots, then snip off excess ends. Draw string tight to close the bag (of course!)

Optional
Attach short lengths of yarn at random points on the bottom of the bag, and string them with various beads for a more exotic look.
