Crochet Fridge Ghost

Crochet a ghost that you can put on your fridge. Perfect for Halloween decorations!

What you need

2oz. white worsted weight yarn
small scrap of orange yarn
small scrap of black felt (for eyes and mouth)(optional)
you can use small black pom poms for eyes if you wish
4″ piece of small dowel rod
small scrap of paper
black marker for sign

Instructions

HEAD (make 2)
Starting with white yarn, Ch3. Join with sl st to beg ch to form ring.
Rnd 1:Ch3. (this will count as first dc). Work 13dc in ring. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (14dc)
Rnd 2:Ch3. Dc in same st as ch3. 3dc in next st. *2dc in next st. 3dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. Fasten off. (35dc)

Holding both head pieces wrong sides together, using a scrap piece of white yarn and needle.. sew pieces together leaving 6 sts free on each side. (this is where the neck will be connected)

Starting body , beginning at neck
Rnd 1: Attach yarn to the middle of one side of the head. Ch3. Dc in same st as beg ch3. 1dc in next st. *2dc in next st. 1dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (18dc)
Rnd 2: Ch3. dc in same st as beg ch3. 2dc in each st around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (36dc)
Rnd 3: Ch3. dc in same st as beg ch3. 1dc in next st. *2dc in next st. 1dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (54dc)
Rnd 4: Ch3. Dc in next st. 2dc in next st. *1dc in each of next 2 sts. 2dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (72dc)
Rnd 5: Do not ch. Sl st in to first st. Ch3 (counts as beg dc). 1dc in each of next 11 sts. Sk next 24 sts. 1dc in each of next 12 sts. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (24dc)
Rnd 6: Ch3. Dc in next st. Dec over next 2 sts. 1dc in each of next 6 sts. 2dc in each of next 4 sts. 1dc in each of next 8 sts. Dec over last 2 sts. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (26dc)
Rnd 7: Ch3. Dc in next st. Dec over next 2 sts. 1dc in each of next 8 sts. 2dc in each of next 4 sts. 1dc in each of next 8 sts. Dec over last 2 sts. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (28dc)
Rnd 8: Ch3. Dec over next 2 sts. 1dc in each of next 8 sts. *Dec over next 2 sts. Repeat from * 3 more times. 1dc in each of next 7sts. Dec over last 2 sts. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (22 dc)
Rnd 9: Ch3. Dec over next 2 sts. 1dc in each of next 8 sts. Dec over next 2 sts. 1dc in each of next 7 sts. Dec over last 2 sts. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (19dc)
Rnd 10: Ch3. Dec over next 2 sts. 1dc in each of next 6 sts. 2dc in each of next 2 sts. 1dc in each of next 6 sts. Dec over last 2 sts. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-3. (19dc)
Rnd 11: Ch3. Dec over next 2 sts (twice). 1dc in each of next 3 sts. 2dc in each of next 4 sts. 1dc in each of next 3 sts. Dec over next 2 sts (twice). Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (19dc)
Rnd 12: Ch3. Dec over next 2 sts. 1dc in each of next 5 sts. Dec over next 2 sts (three times). 1dc in each of next 3 sts. Dec over last 2 sts. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (14dc)
Rnd 13: Ch3. Dc in same sp as beg ch3. 2dc in next st. 1dc in each of next 4 sts. Dec over next 2 sts (twice). 1dc in each of next 2 sts. 2dc in each of next 2 sts. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (16dc)
Rnd 14: Ch3. Dc in same sp as ch3. 2dc in next st. 1dc in each of next 4 sts. Dec over next 2 sts (three times). 1dc in each of next 3 sts. 2dc in last st. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (16dc)
Rnd 15: Ch3. Dc in same sp as beg ch3. 2dc in next st. 1dc in each of next 2 sts. Dec over next 2 sts (5 times). 1dc in next st. 2dc in last st. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (14dc)
Rnd 16: Ch3. 1dc in each of next 3 sts. Dec over next 2 sts (5 times). Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (9dc)
Rnd 17: Ch3. Dec over next 2 sts. (4 times). Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (5dc)
Rnd 18: Ch3. Dec over next 2 sts. (2 times). Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. Fasten off. (3dc)

Weave in loose ends.

With scrap of orange yarn.. tie a small bow around neck (or if you prefer you can use ribbon) With needle and scrap of white yarn, tack front of row 8 to front of row 5 to form fold in the ghost’s body. Also sew up both seams on arms to close opening.

With 2 small pieces of white yarn.. thread through top of head and tie separately into knots. Fluff out for hair.

Cut out mouth from small scrap of black felt and glue onto face.

Cut out two small circles from scrap of black felt and glue on for eyes or use small black pom poms.

With scrap piece of paper, cut out two pieces for the sign.

With black marker write “BOO!” on the front of it. Glue the dowel rod in between the two layers of paper and then glue the stick into the ghost’s hand.

Glue a strip of magnet to the back of Ghost.

Hang on fridge and you’re all set to scare those little goblins away. =)
