What you needMaterials-
1. Crochet hook
2. Crochet thread
Step-1: Start with 25-30 chain stitches. Chain one on the hook and then skip one chain on the row then do a single crochet. Similarly do single crochet on the entire row. For the next row do double crochet. Make sure to keep the number of stitches equal to the beginning number of chain stitches. Do 3-4 rows of double crochet with the colour on hook. After completing 3-4 rows with the same colour change the colour to a different shade of the same colour. Again do double crochet. 12-14 rows of double crochet with the current colour.
Step-2: Finish the crocheting by doing 4 rows of double crochet with the first shade. Also do a row of single crochet at the end. Slip knot and cut off extra thread. This rectangular piece will be used to make the main body of the purse.
Step-3: Fold the rectangular crochet piece into half as you can see in this picture. Prepare a thread by making a slip knot on it. Match the sides of the folded piece nice and evenly. Do single crochet using the prepared thread through both sides to join them. I did 3 single crochet into each loop on the sides, this created a nice pattern on the sides.
Step-4: Similarly join the other side to complete the main body of the purse. This is how it looks after joining the sides.
Step-5: Take a different coloured thread. Chain 4 and then form a ring. Do 8-10 single crochet around the ring to create the base for the doily pattern. Follow the instructions below-
Row-1: 1 double crochet and chain one. Keep repeating this step until circling the entire base.
Row-2: 2 double crochet and the 1 chain. Keep repeating this step until circling the entire base.
Row-3: 2 double crochet and the 2 chains. Keep repeating this step until circling the entire base.
Row-4: 3 double crochet and the 2 chains. Keep repeating this step until circling the entire base.
Step-6: The doily is almost done. Now you can increase the size according to the purse size but this is it for the purse I’m making.
Step-7: Prepare a different and lighter coloured thread. Draw the thread through a loop on the doily’s end. Start with a single crochet through that loop, follow with 6 double crochet and a single crochet. Go for the next loop and follow the same instructions until all loops are covered.
Step-8: There, the border of the doily is complete.
Step-9: Making the handle is the easiest part of all. Chain stitch as many as you’ll need to reach the required length for the handle. Once you’re done with the chain stitches go through them once again by doing double crochet into each chain. At the end tie a slip knot and cut off extra thread.
Stap-10: Now that we have all the parts ready we can simply join them together to complete the purse. I stitched the handle with the purse on both sides and used hot glue to attach half of the doily with the body. At last attach a button to complete the purse.
Super cute right!
