Clutch Purse – Christmas Present

With the holiday season just around the corner, it’s never too early to plan for your outfit, especially if it involves a box clutch that looks like a gift! Perfect for Christmas, and if you decide to gift it you may even skip the wrapping.

What you need

1 x purse frame box

2 x gold fabric large enough to wrap around the box

2 x velvet/felt fabric large enough to wrap around the box

Black grosgrain ribbon

White glue or Mod Podge

Super glue

Instructions

Step 1

Apply white glue/Mod Podge on the inside of the plastic box.

Apply Craft Glue

Tip: Use a brush or sponge foam to spread the glue into a thin layer.

Step 2

Carefully place the velvet/felt fabric onto the glue, pressing down the corners with your fingers to smooth any air bubbles away.

Trim away fabric excess.

Repeat Steps 1 to 3 for the other plastic box.

Step 4

Apply white glue/Mod Podge on the outside of the plastic box.

Step 5

Place gold fabric on top, again using your fingers to gently press down and smoothen any air bubbles away.

Fold down the corners of the edges so that they look neat. Apply a dab of glue if needed.

Trim away excess fabric, and repeat with the other plastic box! 🙂

Step 8

Glue down two strips of ribbon on the outer of the box to create a cross down the center.

Step 9

To make the bow, lay a piece of grosgrain ribbon with the longer edge to the left.

Dab a dot of glue on the right edge, then carry that edge to the center of the ribbon and press it down.

Dab another dot of glue on the center, then carry the left edge of the ribbon to the center and press it down.

Snip off the excess ribbon.

Overlap and glue down a strip of ribbon down the center, and you have your bow! 🙂

Use glue to attach the ribbon onto the center of the clutch.

Step 10

Repeat Step 9 for the other box.

Step 11

Line the “drain” of the metal frame with super glue, and place the plastic box into the drains of the metal frame carefully.

Carefully pop the box into the metal frame, making sure that the edges of the velvet lining is pushed into the “drain”.

Use a slim object like a ruler to push in the edges of the fabric into the “drain” of the metal frame on the outside of the clutch.

Allow the glue to dry, and you’re done! 🙂
