With COLOR A

Begin by forming a magic circle, ch2 (counts as first st now and throughout), 9 hdc into the ring and join to top of beg ch2. – 10 hdc

Round 1: Ch2, hdc in same stitch. 2 hdc in each st around. Join to beg ch2- 20hdc
Round 2: Ch2, hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next. *2hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next* repeat around to beg and join. – 30 hdc
Round 3: Ch2, hdc in same st. 1 hdc in next 2 st. *2hdc in next, hdc in next 2* repeat around to beg and join – 40 hdc
Round 4: Ch2, hdc in same st. 1 hdc in next 3 st. *2 hdc in next, hdc in next 3 st* repeat around to beg and join – 50 hdc
Round 5: Ch2, hdc in same st. 1 hdc in next 4 st. *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 4 st* repeat around to beg and join. – 60 hdc
Round 6: Ch 2, hdc in same st. 1 hdc in next 5 st *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 5 st* repeat around to beg and join. – 70 hdc
Round 7: Slip stitch around to last st, do not join. Draw up a large loop as shown in the image, pull out hook and turn to the backside. Insert your hook below the space made below the first sl stitch and hdc as pictured and pull the loop through (joined).

Round 8: Ch1, sc in same stitch as join, and in each stitch around going into the space made by the slip stitch and hdc of previous round. Join to first sc. – 70 stitches. (This will make the brim of the bottom more pronounced and stiffer).

Switch to a I Hook

Round 9: Working in the back loops only, ch2 (counts as first hdc throughout), hdc in next stitch and in each stitch around. – 70 hdc – CHANGE TO COLOR B while joining (do not fasten off yarn when changing colors, just pick up when you change back to that color, this makes less ends to have to worry about weaving in and coming loose)

Round 10: fphdc around first post (ch2 from last round), bphdc around next. *fphdc around next post, bphdc around next post* around. Join to first fphdc. -70 stitches

Round 11-20 ( you can make the basket taller/deeper if you like by continuing the pattern to desired height/depth): fphdc around first fphdc of last round, bphdc around next bphdc *fphdc around next fphdc, bphdc around next bphdc* repeat around and join. 70
Switch back to J hook

Round 21: Top brim – holding all 3 color strands, ch1 and reverse single crochet in each stitch around and join, finish off.

Change to F hook

Handle: for the handle you can make this as long or short as you like. This is very easy to do and is simply worked in sc rows.

Color A: Chain the length you desire. Work 3 rows of sc in each color and then finish off. Attach the handle with the embroidery needle to the inside of the basket.
