Christmas Tree Pot Holder

Crochet a Christmas tree for a handmade decoration.

What you need

Crochet Cotton in Green and Red
Size 7 crochet hook



Instructions

With green, chain 70, dc in 4th st from hook, 1 dc in each chain remaining st of chain, chain 1, turn (68 dc).

2nd Row: Sl st to next dc, chain 3 and work 1 dc in each chain dc omitting the last dc, thus decreasing 2 dc in row.

Repeat the 2nd row 5 times, chain 5, break thread.

8th Row: Attach red at opposite end and work 1 sc in each chain of the next 3 dc, * thread over needle, insert needle in top of next st of 6th row and work off as a dc, skip the st in back of the dc, 1 sc in each chain of the next 4 dc, dc in top of corresponding st of 6th row, skip the st in back of the dc, sc in next st, trc in top of next st of 5th row, skip the st in back of trc, sc in next st, dc in top of corresponding st of 6th row, skip the st in back of dc, 1 sc in each chain of the next 4 dc, repeat from * from 4 times, dc in top of st of 6th row, skip the st in back of trc, 1 sc in each chain remaining dc, break red.

9th Row: Attach green in 1st sc of last row, chain 7, dc in 4th st from hook, 1 dc in each chain of the next 3 sts of chain, then work 1 dc in each chain st across row working 1 dc in each chain st of chain at end of row, turn.

10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th Rows: Decrease 1 dc at beginning of each chain row and 2 dc at end of each chain row, then chain 4, break thread.

16th Row: Attach red at opposite end and work 1 sc in each chain of the next 3 dc, * dc in top of st of 2nd row below, skip the st in back of the dc, sc in next dc, trc in top of st of 3rd row below, skip the st in back of the trc, sc in next st, dc in top of st of 2nd row below, skip the st in back of dc, 1 sc in each chain of the next 4 dc, repeat from * across row, break red.

17th Row: Attach Green in 1st sc of last row, chain 6, dc in 4th st from hook, 1 dc in each chain of the next 2 sts of chain, then work 1 dc in each chain st across row and 1 dc in each chain st of chain at end of row.

Repeat the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th rows.

Next 5 Rows: Decrease 2 dc at beginning and 2 dc at end of each chain row, chain 1, turn.

Next row : Sl st into each chain of the next 6 dc, chain 3 and work 1 dc in each chain of the next 12 dc, chain 1, turn.

Next row : Sl st into each chain of the next 2 sts, chain 3 and work 1 dc in each chain of the next 8 dc, chain 1, turn.

Next row : Sl st into each chain of the next 2 sts, chain 3 and work 1 dc in each chain of the next 4 dc, turn.

Next row : * Thread over needle, insert in next st, pull through, repeat from * twice, thread over and pull through all loops on needle at one time, break thread. Fold in half and mark center st at lower edge for trunk.

Attach Green in 4th st from center, chain 3, 1 dc in each chain of the next 7 sts, chain 3, turn.

Next 2 Rows: 1 dc in each chain dc, break thread. Work another section in same manner.

With red, crochet the 2 sections together with a row of sc working a 4 chain picot at each chain point.

With red, cover a bone ring with sc and attach to holder.

All done!
