This knitting pattern shows you how to knit a Christmas tree scarf for young children.

What you need

8 ply Double Worsted Yarn
Size 8 US needles (4 mm)

Instructions

Cast on 38 stitches

Stocking stitch ( one row knit 1 row purl)

For 16 rows ( main colour )
Change to contrast colour and knit 2 rows
Change back to main colour
Knit 6 rows

Begin your Xmas tree

Continue in red for 7 rows

Then make your green strip

Continue in red with the green stripe of 2 rows every 34 rows.
Once you have knit 5 stripes of green you are on your reverse section of Xmas tree
Ending with a purl row stocking stitch 7 rows

Stocking stitch 6 rows in red.
2 rows green.
Continue in red for 16 rows.
Cast off.

Make up

Stitch the two side edged together so that the scarf is inside out now turn to the right side and either stitch across the bottom or close in the bottoms by making a fringe using a crochet hook and pulling green thread through.

This is done by looping the thread and pulling it through the stitches of the scarf then pull the two ends through the loop pull tight to  secure, continue all the way across.
